Recently returned from a long tour of duty in trouble spot Aden. Burnley soldier Stephen Cassidy, only son of Ald' John Cassidy and Mrs Eva Cassidy of Burnley was married at St Mary's RC Church to Miss Jennifer Aspinall a winder at Qualitex Silks Ltd. The bride, who is the daughter of Mrs V Aspinall, of 16 Forrest Street, Burnley and Mr Thomas Aspinall wore a full length dress of Nottingham lace and nylon with a pill box headdress and a full length veil. She carried a prayer book and a spray of red carnations. She was given away by her father.
Best man was Brian Ashworth, a Burnley soldier who served with the bridegroom in Aden. The groomsmen were Thomas and John Aspinall and James Bradshaw. The bridesmaids were Janet (sister of the bride) and Angelina (niece) Aspinall, June Sykes and Elizabeth Russell, (cousin of the bridegroom). June and Elizabeth wore full-length dresses of pink satin brocade. They each carried a prayer book and a spray of bridal flowers.
Father John Neville officiated at the ceremony, following which a reception was held at the George IV, Padiham Road. The couple are spending their honeymoon at Blackpool, They are to reside at 12. Adlington Street, Burnley.
