Burnley Light Opera, pop' shows and the big screen may have brought the house down in their day at the Palace... but never quite as dramatically as this. This photograph taken yesterday afternoon, the 28th February 1974, shows the extent of the demolition work inside this former entertainment magnet. Somehow that safety curtain seems slightly unsubstantial now that the "wreckers" have moved in. The land on which the Palace just about still stands is earmarked as part of the final phase of Burnley's central area redevelopment.
