Four cows on a sightseeing tour of the Telephone Engineering Centre.

A steer decided Royle Road stockyard was too small to hold him. He'd been on the loose since Wednesday; charging to the clubhouse at Keighley Green, sending townsfolk diving for cover, then back-tracking to the central railroad depot, before high-tailing up the lines to Barracks Railroad Station. Then the law arrived. They brought four cows with them to calm him down and cornered him in a gulley near Thursby Gardens; one cow spooked and headed over the fence, across the gardens and up towards Centenary Way. In the gulley, Ropes streaked through the air, each time falling wide of the mark. Then the steer had to be shot and the slaughter house moved in.

Meanwhile, back on Centenary Way, the escaped cow sought refuge in the refuse yard opposite the coach station. As the cow pokes arrived, she made a run for it up to the Telephone Engineering Centre where she was eventually captured and led away. Four eye-witnesses of the drama are now planning to start a petition calling for an investigation of the conditions at Royle Road slaughterhouse and the RSPCA had been phoned to investigate conditions at the slaughterhouse.
