With the success of their first disco night on Thursday, 17th January 1974, Sandygate Youth Club has decided to make them a weekly event. From January 31st until Easter, the disco will be held every Thursday from 7 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. at the club centre on Trafalgar Street. On Thursday, about 120 teenagers, aged 13-17, enjoyed dancing and listening to records provided by Andy Kay's Disco.
Mr Ted Starkie, club organiser, said: "Some of the girls suggested the idea, so we arranged the disco on Thursday. It went down very well, and the teenagers enjoyed themselves. Andy Kay has some very good records and equipment and the nights should be a success in the future. Refreshments and snacks at the chip bar are also available. Both members and non-members are welcome, at a nominal charge.
