From a review by Normal Powell:
The accent is very definitely on comedy in Brierclife St James's pantomime "Cinderella" which opened at Lane Head School on Friday evening, 25th January 1974. St James's Amateur Dramatic Society is particularly strong in this direction, and producer Frank Taylor has obviously chosen a script which emphasises comedy. Rita Hurrell and Joan Rogers as the Prince and Cinderella, respectively, had very little to do except look pretty, which they certainly did. The comedy was in the most capable hands of Jack Berry and the vicar Peter Hallam (Ugly Sisters), ably supported by Roger Kelley and Howard Rogers (broker's men), and a very droll Ivan Limmer as the Baron. Their antics were at times hilarious, and the script contained some very witty lines.

Stuart Burrows, playing his first part as Buttons, showed great promise, and Cathryn Marshall was an attractive Dandini. I suppose there isn't a great deal to laugh about in these difficult days, but the Briercliffe comedy team go to great lengths to remedy this, and I've no doubt that the laughter will continue on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week, when the show is repeated. Other members of the cast included Sylvia Sutcliffe, Diane Clark, Susan Hargreaves, Julie Brooks and Murray Bruggan, and the chorus was: Angela Brown, Sharon Brown, Karen Gilbert, Elizabeth Hambley, Anne Taylor, Christine Taylor, Pamela Clarke, Karen Denwood, Yvonne Denwood, Diane Hurrell, Julie Miller, Jane Schofield, Tom Bruggen, Gerrard Hogg, Roy Hubbard, Andrew Jackson and Trevor Jackson.
