Eric Robinson (10) got off to a fine start against Neville Gee (15) and had a 22-break in his 67-55 win on the black ball in the first frame. Robinson looked set for a 2-0 win but tension caused errors and he lost the second frame 90-63. A confident Gee built up a 40-10 lead in the final frame and went on to win by 88-36. Officials were Bob Whittle (referee), and Frank Walker (marker). The collection raised £5. Harry Coombe (Snr) had a 21-break in the first frame of the small table quarter final with Fred Musgrove at Paradise last Thursday and was leading 41-19 but Bob Musgrove nosed in front 42-19 then missed a blue and Coombe went on to win 59-42. Musgrove (7) made all the running in the second frame and won by 87-43. In the final frame Musgrove needed snookers on the colours and took the first three to pull up to 50-28 but Coombe took the blue and though he conceded six with a foul pink he eventually tied up the frame at 61-34. Colin Grimshaw was referee, Terry Roberts marked and the charity collection was £2.81.
