There can't be many street names in Burnley as prominently displayed as the one in Blakey Street. In fact the name is carved on a stone in the wall and the Burnley Express is keen to know where there are likely to be more, if any.

This particular object d'art was pointed out to one of our readers, Mr Ken Spencer of St Matthews Street, by a group of girls from Ivy Bank School. Mr Spencer believes this to be the only street name of its kind in Burnley and his interest in its origins has been increased because Blakey Street is being demolished at the moment. So if anyone knows of more of these street names carved in stone, let us know!
