After the Mass Bishop Burke chats with a group of Brownies and cub Scouts, with their leaders Mrs P. Tracey, Tawny Owl, and Mr S. McBride, assistant Cub Scout Leader.

Bishop Geoffrey Burke of the Salford Diocese led a Lenten Station at St. Mary's RC Church on Thursday. A Lenten Station is a gathering of all Roman Catholics from an area with their Bishop during Lent, so they can worship together.

Priests and people from all parishes in the Burnley Deanery attended the station, when there was a concelebrated Mass. It was the culmination of four days of Lenten activities at the church, including a folk Mass.
