Ten long service awards were presented to youth leaders from the Burnley area at Gannow Community Centre. The awards were made to commemorate 15 years of youth work, and were presented Mr W. E. Wharton, chairman of the Burnley Youth Advisory Committee.

The ten people who received the awards were Miss I Bury (St Andrew's Cubs), Mrs A. E. Todd (Sea Cadets), Mrs H. B. Bates (Sea Cadets), Mrs J. Bunting (Stoneyholme Youth Club), Mr R. Marsden (1st Boys' Brigade), Mr T. J. Rambadt (Caving Club), Mr K. Halstead (1st Boys Brigade), Mr C. W. Hitchcock (Zion Youth Fellowship), Mr W. Nevison (Brunshaw Youth Club), and Mr E. Sutcliffe (St Andrew's Scouts).
