The North-East Lancashire Riding Club was rewarded for the hard work put into organising this year's junior one-day event by winning the competition. The event, which attracted 13 teams from all over Lancashire, was staged at Hapton Common on Saturday, 20th April 1974. It was divided into three sections: dressage, cross country, and show jumping. Each team comprised four riders, and the best three in each team were awarded points in each event.

Individual winners of the dressage section were: Shirley Hamley (NE Lancs Pink) on El Diablo, and Beverley Morton (Bolton Red) on Saffron. The overall winners were: NE Lancs Purple: second, Rochdale Blue; third, NE Lancs Pink; fourth, Rochdale Green; fifth, Longton South; and sixth, Accrington Blue.
