The Tuesday Bowling League's new trophy, the Tom Maden Memorial Cup, presented by Mrs Maden and accepted on behalf of the league by the chairman, Mr Edwin Baker, with whom is Mr Alex Farmer, secretary.

The Tuesday Bowling League has been presented with a new trophy and it is certain that it will be one of the most treasured awards in Burnley. This new cup has been donated by Mrs Maden in memory of her late husband Tom Maden one of the best respected administrators of the game in the area. He used to say that after a severe illness he spent many hours watching the game, started to play, had many hours of enjoyment and above all, made many friends.

These old colleagues will be pleased and proud to see that whatever type of competition the Tuesday League officials decide to organise in their Jubilee Year they will give it support. Tom's trophy is a permanent tribute to a great and courageous personality. Mrs Maden's generous gesture is much appreciated by the league and last Thursday, 8th August 1974, she went to Causeway End green and officially handed over the trophy to Mr Edwin Baker, the chairman of the league and to Mr Alex Farmer, the secretary.
