Padiham giant multi-thousand pound superstore - a CRS Ltd development by their Lancashire region - will open on Thursday morning at 10am. Celebrities for the official occasion are commercial television's Cyril and his Wonderloaf men, who will welcome guests to the opening. The development which boasts 5,000 sq.ft. of selling space, 100ft of refrigerated displays and 1,200 cu.ft. of storage refrigeration constitutes the largest store in town.

The superstore houses a complete range of foodstuffs including wine, spirits, fruit, vegetables, and a meat section. The site is located off the main Burnley Road at the junction with Sowerby Street, near the old co-operative drapery store, which was closed some time ago with the electrical and furnishing department at the junction with Mill Street. Plans are now in hand for the demolition of the drapery shop, and the erection of a new car park to serve the new store. Its manager is Mr James Wiggin, of Lowerhouse, Burnley, formerly manager of Padiham's old CRS Ltd grocery section. Mr. Wiggin has been with the organisation for almost 14 years.
