About 170 people attended a social evening at Holme House, Cliviger, the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. Halstead, on Saturday. The event was organised by the chairman of the special efforts committee of the Clitheroe Division Conservative Association, M. J. Olphert. A special coach took members from the Cltheroe area to Cliviger. There were several guests including Mr. J. Wild jnr. (chairman of Cliviger Conservatives) and Mr. Neil Murtagh (chairman of the Clitheroe division). Sir Frank Pearson, who was invited was unable to attend. A bust of Sir Winston Churchill, by Todmorden sculptor Mr. Sam Tonkiss, was auctioned for £15. A total of about £160 was raised for the division's funds.
