Goal... A firm left-foot shot from Peter Noble opens the scoring after thirty seconds at Turf Moor on Saturday.

From a match report by Peter Higgs:
Burnley's defence is getting beyond a joke. And serious action is needed to prevent a repeat of Saturday's fiasco when Norwich were handed a gift point as a result of the carelessness and generosity of the Clarets. To the impartial observer the 4-4 draw fought out between Burnley and Norwich at Turf Moor was a highly entertaining game. But to the committed Burnley supporter it was sheer torment. Four splendid goals from Peter Noble plus some marvellous attacking play was wasted by Burnley's inability to defend even moderately well.

Burnley played really well going forward, until they faded in the second-half. Inspired by another tremendous performance from Brian Flynn in midfield the Clarets played some great football, knocking the ball around neatly and posing all sorts of problems for the Norwich defence. After 30 seconds Peter Noble ran clear from Ian Brennan's long clearance and from 12 yards beat Keelan with a low left foot shot inside the near post. In the 26th minute, a good Burnley move ended with Flynn being bundled over by Suggett as he attempted to shoot. Noble's low penalty kick into the corner beat Keelan's dive. Five minutes later Norwich scored from a penalty as MacDougall sent Stevenson the wrong way. At 43 minutes Noble scored from the spot to make it 3-1 after Butler had handled to stop Noble and Hankin as they closed in for a header.

Norwich's second goal came on 66 minutes when MacDougall tapped the ball wide of Stevenson as a mishit drive ran across the penalty area. The equaliser after 76 minutes came after a fast Norwich move split Burnley wide open as MacDougall's first time pass inside gave Peters yards of room to run through the middle of the Burnley defence to place a low shot wide of Stevenson. Burnley went ahead again in the 87th minute when Noble bravely headed in Summerbee's free kick, but two minutes later Norwich came back for Boyer to head in from five yards and it was all over, 4-4.
