Division Three champions Britannia rounded off a highly successful season in the Burnley Amateur Combination when they won the Tom Clegg Shield on Tuesday night, 6th May 1975. In an all-Padiham final played in front of a sizeable crowd at Reedley they beat Padiham St Leonard's 6-2 to take the trophy.

The match was split into three phases, with Britannia, after taking a 3-0 first-half lead, apparently heading for a comfortable victory, before St Leonard's fought back to score twice and made a real match of it. But their spirited rally was killed off when they conceded a sloppy fourth goal, they lost heart and two more goals near the finish put the final result beyond doubt. It was a well-deserved victory for Britannia, who lost only one match in the league all season and now look set to give a good account of themselves in Division Two next season. Malcolm Heyworth put them on the road to victory with a well-hit shot from 25 yards for the outstanding goal of the match. Skipper Bernard Monk weighed in with two and the other goals were scored by Peter Lord, Bernard Bromley and David Blackburn. The Padiham St Leonard's goals came from Mick Robinson and Jeff Pedder.
