From a match report by Don Smith:
Burnley maintained their top of the league status with a home win over Church on Saturday, 21st June 1975. At one stage of this Turf Moor match Church appeared to be proving a problem to the might of Burnley in a desperate effort to thwart the leaders' bid to hold on to their advantage. However, a stupendous effort brought victory which included a bonus point - and that is becoming an increasingly important part of proceedings. A bonus point could decide a championship.

Roland Harrison, 70, Graham Bushell 33 not out (a splendid innings typical of the club's increasing talent in the young generation), Michael McLeod, Peter Brown and Neil Whalley all double figures, Joe Fletcher six wickets, Chris Rawstron three wickets and two catches. Gordon Allison three catches behind the stumps and some fine ground fielding by the whole side. All blended to make a win of prime importance.

Church are a fighting side with a never give up attitude which brings the best out of the opposition. They made Burnley none too sure of themselves on a slightly greenish wicket on which Jack Houldsworth bowled 17 overs for 52 runs and five wickets. Fortunately, captain Harrison was able to take command and hit the ball hard and often in one of his most attractive innings - 44 of his runs came in boundaries. Burnley had nine out when they concluded their overs ration. Shafiq Ahmed was beginning to prove troublesome to the home team when Allison took him off Fletcher amid sighs of relief. Metcalf's big hitting proved a worry until at 44 Rawstron accepted a catch and ended an innings of hefty hitting which included a six into Belvedere Road. Burnley had things moving in their favour when Church had six out for 115 but Tommy George became busy in an effort to turn the game in Church's direction, but Fletcher again did his side a service by ending the menace. Eventually the visitors wanted 23 off two overs and Joe bowled to a spread out field and no slip. Then it became 21 required off the last over but Harrison wanted the bonus point. Rawstron obliged and
Church were all out for 155.
