Sabden bowlers are making their mark on the local leagues after just a few seasons in business. The village has a new green and pavilion, the result of lots of hard work and fund-raising by villagers and have added to this by success on the green. The Sabden club fields several teams, including a veterans, and had plenty of silverware to give out at its annual presentation night at the Pendle Witch pub which is more used to darting and football successes than bowls. One of the teams took the championship of Hyndburn and District Bowling League's third division, while another was runners-up in the Great Harwood and District 4th Division. Individual prizes for the club's own awards were also presented, with the vicar of Sabden the Rev. Roland Nicholson doing the honours. MC was the club president, Alan Whalley. The article then lists all the award winners, not transcribed here.
During the evening the club accepted a painting of the new green and pavilion done by Padiham artist Mr. Norman Smith.
