Eight-year-olds Angela Shaw and Peter Pilling meet three of the characters in the panto.
Christmas pantomimes never cease to amuse children, and the story was the same on Saturday, 8th November 1975, when Burnley Round Table took 100 local children to see "Cinderella" at Colne Municipal Hall. For many of the children it was their first visit to a panto, and they all had a marvellous time.
Round Table community service convener Mr David Heginbotham said: "It was a tremendous day out, and the kiddies had a marvellous time. They really enjoyed it. But none of this would have happened if we had not had the co-operation of the local Social Services Department, who gave us the names of the children, and from many other people who helped us." After the panto, performed by the Freelance Dramatic Society, the children were also treated to tea at St John's Church Hall, Colne.
