The Peels Arms C team captain Jimmy Duxbury receives the Express 1001 Darts Cup from Don Smith. The group includes officials Jack Clark, Gerry Catterall and Stephen Brown, Mr and Mrs P. McGinty of the Peels.

New winners of the Express Cup for the 1,001 darts knockout are the Peels arms C who crowned a night of surprises at the 110 Club on Tuesday, 28th January 1975 by beating the Railway (Padiham) in a tense and exciting final. The champions demonstrated that determination in adversity can turn apparent defeat into unexpected victory. They could not find a starting double, the Railway could not finish.

The Padiham team were 100 in front when Peels began and at that stage the Railway were 317 to the good. Then they hit double trouble and were on double 10 when Peels had a deficit of 21. Still the Railway side kept missing that finish and Peel diminished the advantage until they too faltered on the finishing double. Eventually though, Peel won the match.
