Burnley firemen work with their latest recruit, the Green Goddess.

A beautiful Green Goddess has taken up residence at Burnley Fire Station and she is causing more than a few heads to turn in admiration.

The Green Goddess, as she is known, is a green fire engine capable of holding 400 gallons of water and with a maximum speed of 28 m.p.h. The machine, brought from the Home Office stores at Wheeton near Blackpool, has been on standby for much of its stay in Burnley but took an active part in last week's recent Well Springs Hotel fire.
