Burnley Councillor Mrs. Irene Cooney has seen many changes in her 25 years as Secretary of the district's Off Licence Association. A presentation of a bouquet and a cheque from the Association and a set of glasses from Whitbreads, was made to her at the Annual General Meeting at the Inn Place. Mrs Cooney first went into the trade 28 years ago on Colne Road and when she left thought she would lose her contacts and have to give up her role but is still the secretary 8 years later. She now hopes someone younger will take over.
