YOUNGSTERS in Nelson and Brierfield had the chance to join us at the holiday discos last week.
On Friday, in Nelson at the Silverman Hall, over 100 dancing fans spent the afternoon listening to all the top pop records from Dave Craig’s Hotline Disco.
There were many games an prizes galore and, of course, the Nelson heat of the disco dancing championships. Finalists were - Musheraf Noor, Garden Street; Nelson; Michael Smith, Rowland Avenue, Nelson; Claire Sourbutts, Rickard Road, Nelson; Julie Carradice, Thursby Road, Nelson; Stephen Buck, Warwick Drive, Nelson; and Nikki Cowman, East Street, Nelson.
At Brierfield Town Hall on Saturday morning the disco, organised jointly by this newspaper and staff at Pendle Leisure Services, was in full swing.
The dancers from there will also go into the grand finals later in the year. They were -— Helen Edgar, Pilgrim Street, Nelson; Paula Banks, Princess Street, Nelson; Margaret Duckworth, Hallam Road, Nelson; Marie Banks, Roseland Avenue, Nelson; Paul Jackson, Chatburn Park Drive, Brierfield, and Jacquellne Fowler, York Street, Nelson.
As in previous years, the disco in and around the area have been a huge success,. with hundreds of local young people enjoying the fun at each venue.
