Wood Badge Presentation

Picture shows Mrs. Howarth, seated, receiving her award with Cubmaster Mr. George Pearson left, Group Scoutmaster Mr. Henry Box centre, and District Commissioner Mr. S. Thackwray right. Mrs. D. Howarth of 26 Peart Street, Burnley, Assistant Cubmaster at St. Cuthbert's, was presented with the Wood Badge which is awarded for completion of Scout Training. On receipt of the badge she became a member of the 1st Gilwell Park Group entitled to wear the group scarf. The wood badge consists of two wooden beads on a leather thong and is a replica of beads owned by Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Scout Movement.
