Nearly every Burnley player had an injury of some sort or other after Wednesday’s fairs cup match of shame involving Napoli. But manager Harry Potts is hoping that, in addition to the previously injured Alex Elder, there will be only one additional absentee at Tottenham tomorrow – the other full back, John Angus. It was revealed yesterday that Angus played on yesterday from the 19th minute with a painful groin injury, and that outside right, Willie Morgan felt unwell throughout the game with stomach trouble. There was an official Fairs Cup observer at the match, specially appointed because of previous trouble in the competition involving other clubs, and the Swiss-based committee will study his report before naming the referee for the return match in Italy, and before deciding if extra precautions are necessary. The three match officials will, however, be Hungarians.
The Football Association Disciplinary Committee will, on Monday, consider the three bookings of Burnley leading scorer Andy Lochhead. He has asked for a personal hearing and hopes to avoid suspension which would rule him out of the tie in Naples.
