Large new premises for Hebden Brothers, a firm which started selling bicycles in Burnley in 1890, and is now one of the town's biggest car dealers, are under construction near the entrance to Towneley Holmes. It is hoped that the showrooms will be opened by Whitsuntide. Several new features are being introduced, including a new two-tier workshop for car servicing, into the 42,000 square feet site. It was formerly Spa Mill and the Burnley centre for British road Services. Mr Robert Hebden, the firm’s managing director, said that they had endeavoured to ensure that the new building would be in keeping with the dignified entrance to Towneley Holmes. The firm will also continue to operate from their existing premises, including their present headquarters on Accrington Road.
