Mr Fearnhead on the left with Captain and Mr Marsden with Bell Star Majestic
The May blossom is a little late this year..... But two milkmen helped to keep alive the spirit of May day yesterday by decorating their horses in traditional style. Mr Joe Marsden of Standish Street has been an employee of James Jackson, Crow Wood Farm for over nineteen years and he said that he has kept up this tradition each year. His horse 14 year old Bell Star Majestic had a decorated mane with flowers and bells along its back. The decorations attracted favourable comments from many people who were pleased to see that colourful horse bringing their milk. Mr Marsden said "I have always celebrated May day in this way as we like to keep up the good old traditions at Crow Wood". Another milkman from Crow Wood Farm, Mr Joe Fearnhead, decorated his six year old mare, Captain with a plume and colourful mane.
