The Mayor of Burnley's Welfare fund will benefit by £70, as a result of a special charity concert held on Tuesday, 11th August 1970, at the Concert Artistes' Club Burnley. The event, organised by Burnley and District Licensed Trades Women's Auxillary, was a success from the social as well as the financial point of view.
The sports section of the concert Artistes' Club donated a gold watch, which raised £10 when auctioned during the evening. A collection organised by Burnley Market stallholders also boosted the total by £6 7s. 6d. The Mayor's welfare fund is to be used to help the deaf this year, with particular attention to the young.
