The chairman of Padiham Urban District Council, Councillor Mrs. Sheila Maw, is delighted with the response to the memorial fund which she set up for the local air crash victims. She said: "Children in the town have really worked hard for the fund organising jumble sales and other events." Some children from Aberdeen have sent Mrs. Maw £2 after holding a sale there for the fund. The concert at the Padiham United Irish League Club raised £159 and the one at the British Legion Club raised £115.
With the total now at almost £500, it is hoped to reach at least £800 before the fund closes at the end of September. Arrangements are being finalised for the dance at Padiham Town Hall on September 4th. Tickets are now on sale at the town hall.
