The retirement of Sister Mary Hanson was marked by a presentation from staff and patients at Saunder Bank Health Centre. The Nursing Officer for District Nursing in Burnley, Mrs. Vera Cooper, presented her with a gold watch, an Elizabeth Arden perfume set and a bouquet of flowers. Mrs. Hanson is married with four children and three grandchildren. She joined the Burnley District Nursing Staff in 1960 as a district nurse and in 1965 became the deputy superintendent of District Nursing in Burnley. After the re-organisation of the Health Service in 1974 she moved to Saunder Bank Health Centre as nursing sister in the treatment room. Mrs. Cooper said of her that she was a very popular member of staff and that she would be greatly missed.
