CHAIRMAN of the Lancashire Education Committee, County Coun. Mrs Josephine Farrington, was the chief guest speaker at theƻrst dinner of the Pendle Branch of the National Association of Head Teachers, held at the Higher Trapp, Simonstone, on Friday.
Mrs Farrington spoke briefly about the role of the head teacher, and her husband, who was a music adviser in District 13, also spoke.
Although the Pendle branch of the Head Teacher Association was formed in 1973. when its membership numbered eight, Friday's get-together was the rst-ever dinner organised by the branch. Its membership today has swelled to 33, which represents 85 per cent of all head teachers in infant, junior and primary schools in District 13.
Other guests at the dinner included District Education Officer Mr T. J. A. Thomas and several retired members of the association.
