Mr. Nightingale hands over to Roderick Taylor the Place Cup and Express Medal, looking on are joint second Paul Holloway and Gordon Edmundson, and Mr. J. Mason, chairman of Burnley Swimming Club.
The first events in the Burnley Swimming Club championships were held this week, when Mr. K. Nightingale, general manager of the Burnley Express, presented the trophies.
The Place Cup and Express Medal for the men's 100 yards free-style was won by R. Taylor. M. Shutt and P. Holloway were joint second.
The Dr. Ker Cup for the ladies 100 yards free-style was won by G. Taylor, with M. Price second.
The Dean Cup, awarded for a men's neatness event, was won by J. Tenswick, with G. Edmundson second.
The Grey Shield, the ladies' neatness event trophy, was won by M. A. Price, with G. Taylor second.
The Bullock Cup for junior diving (men) was won by M. Price and K. and J. Atkinson were joint second.
The Burton Cup for senior diving (men) was won by M. Price, with H. Roberts second.
The championships continue at North Street Baths on Tuesday 29th September 1970.
