Still a smile, even in defeat, from Burnley chairman Mr. Bob Lord, as he warmly congratulates Eintracht captain Dieter Lindner.

From a Report by Keith McNee:
The season is over. It came to a miserable full stop after a confused ragbag offering which could be aptly labelled: "Lost in a Tactical Bog."
Eintracht were worthy winners. They were more skilful, looked polished professionals, and always seemed to know where they were going, which is something that cannot be said of tension-torn Burnley. We had power and strength, but discovered that there is no substitute for ability. In ball control, and particularly in distribution, Burnley were way behind, although there were a few flashes of individual sparkle from Harris, Coates, Morgan, Elder and Smith.
Eintracht were allowed to take the lead in the 33rd minute with a counter attack goal by Lotz. And it was all over when midfield man Huberts added a second because Burnley then needed three goals in only 18 minutes. No wonder the fans were coming off in droves!
Burnley never maintained any rhythm in attack, although there was no lack of effort and goalkeeper Kunter was lucky on four occasions that shots from well within the penalty area went straight at him. Even Thomson, so often a Fairs Cup hero, could not save Burnley this time. And neither could the gallant Miller, who moved up in a frantic attempt to add weight and drive to the forwards. He did manage to get a goal in the 86th minute, but by then it was far too late to get another two.
