Padiham area page. A sponsored run by members of Read Cricket Club and Read United is expected to raise more than £500. 45 people took part in the run which was 2 1/2 mile circuits in the Read area. Most money was raised by Steven Neary who plays for both Read teams. He managed to complete 8 laps, (20 miles) to raise £144 on his own. Dr. Brian Cooke who is nearly 20 years older than any other member who took part managed to complete 4 laps to raise £50. Organisers of the event were Geoff Holt and David Pollard who are members of Read Cricket Club Committee and also play for Read United Football Club. All the money raised from the event will be divided between the two teams.
