Children's Fancy Dress Competition

Children judged a fancy dress competition at their Junior club matinee performance in Burnley's newly opened twin luxury cinemas. And competitions with a difference are to become a regular Saturday morning spot at Studio 1 and 2 in the new shopping precinct.
After the film the contestants paraded on the stage, while manager Mr. P. J. Bray pointed to each in turn. The audience was asked to cheer loudly in approval and the entrants getting the loudest cheer went on to the final. Finalists included fairies, cowboys, footballers and an executioner, but the winner was two-year-old Sheila Griffiths of Abel Street, dressed as a Christmas tree. Mr. Bray commented "The junior club is off to a very good start. The children appreciate being able to join in the fun, and parents know they are safe. The crowded shopping precinct isn't an ideal place to trail children round on Saturday morning. Our junior club aims to provide a service".
