Burnleys traditional pot fair in the town centre open market still managed to be a roaring success despite the good weather which courted Burnley Folk to the coast. Tea and dinner services, China Shire horses and bits and bats of pottery appear in their thousands as bargains galore were offered by the stall holders. One of the stallholders from Stoke on Trent said Lancashire is one of the few places left with the tradition of pot fairs and Burnley is very high in the ratings as far as he could see. Hundreds of people crowded through the 20 or so stalls in the market, drawn to those where traders were chatting away banging their hammers and going from one knockdown price to another.
