About 400 old and handicapped people attended the charity concert sponsored by the Rotary Club of Padiham and held at the Town Hall. Members of the Rotary club took the people, from Sabden, Hapton and Higham, as well as Padiham, to the concert, and drove them home after the event.

The concert was given by the Accrington Singers, and Councillor Mrs. Sheila Maw, chairman of Padiham Urban District Council, thanked the Rotary club for organising it. The president of the club, Rotarian Bill Harling, welcomed the audience, which included residents of Calder House and Woodside Hostels at Padiham.
