Burnley FC Manager Mr. Brian Miller and commercial manager Mr. Bill Read were among the guests who visited J.F. Turkington Ltd.’s open day, following their move from Abinger St. to Lowerhouse Lane. Engineers travelled from as far as Scotland and Ireland to inspect the firm’s premises which now enable the company to produce their own conveyor system as well as the more usual refurbishment of bakery equipment. Mr. John Turkington invited football club officials after following the club's progress for a number of years. Manager Mr. Miller was impressed by the firm’s modern approach. Mr. Read said “It is Burnley at its best, they are showing enterprise that must be a source of pride to people in the town.”
