The party that was better late than never. Christmas came a little late in the year for 140 elderly parishioners of St. Mary's RC Church, Burnley on Sunday. For they had a Christmas party at St. Theodore's RC School provided by St. Mary's branch of the St. Vincent De Paul Society. They tucked into a delicious turkey meal and were entertained by "The Relatives," who sang for them. They weren't able to hold the party earlier because St. Theodore's School has been fully booked up over Christmas. Among the guests present were Fr Bernard Charnock of St. Mary's Church, Fr Vincent Farrell (presently visiting St. Mary's from Kenya), the Mayor Coun. Mrs Sarah Ennis and Mr Tom Dacey, president of St. Mary's branch of the society.
