The eighth birthday party of Ightenhill Townswomen's Guild was celebrated at Ightenhill Junior School on Monday evening, 7th December 1970, by about 80 members. They were entertained by the guild drama group who gave a comedy sketch, followed by a performance by the choir, conducted by Mrs D. Duckworth, and accompanied by Mrs M Wakeford. A competition for making a mask or apron from paper gave a real splash of colour and originality to the evening. Mrs M. Palmer gave a monologue, and the choir brought the evening to a close by singing a selection of carols.
