Probert just fails to get a foot to a fast-moving cross at Stoke.

From a report by Keith McNee:
Despite picking up a welcome and very valuable point Burnley are back on the bottom of the First Division because Blackpool took two points from Coventry on Saturday 12th December 1970, which puts them level on points with a slightly superior goal average. This was the first away point for the Turf Moor boys since August when they drew 1-1 with Everton and 0-0 with Manchester City who travel here for the return game this week.

Referee Williams came under heavy fire from the crowd for a series of rather unhappy decisions during a scrappy match that was utter frustration to watch. There was very little in the way of thrust, attacking skill or rhythm and the only two real talking points came just before and just after the interval. Stoke produced one of their few cohesive raids with Bernard getting in a shot that Mellor, under severe pressure, palmed out. Burnley rarely looked like getting a goal although Probert was only a whisker off putting his boot end to a through ball from Collins which skidded past the post, and there was a neat second-half link-up down the right between Angus and Probert which led to a Docherty cross being cut out at full stretch by England's Banks. Their best chance came in the 46th minute when Kindon, well inside the box, found the ball in front of him with only Banks to beat. He tried to play it cool but only succeeded in allowing Banks the split-second he needed to advance and block the shot with his legs.
