Miss Travel, 20-year-old Freda Dusnic of Cheltenham, shares a toast with one of the organisers, Mr John Jackson, with some of the members and guests looking on.
About 160 people attended the annual dinner of the Travel Traders Club in East Lancashire, held at the Keirby Hotel on Saturday, 16th January 1971. Among the guests were Mr Dennis Walsh, immediate past chairman of the Association of British Travel Agents, Miss Travel of Great Britain, and Mr G. Thompson, president of the National Fruit Federation.
One of the organising committee said: "We decided to start having these functions in 1969 and numbers have grown each year. The event has been such a success that it has now been adopted as an annual one."
