In the mid to late 1960's Burnley's town council demolished many terraced houses that led from the Burnley, Manchester Road railway station railway line in the direction of Preston down to Trafalgar Street. These houses were replaced by blocks of flats, some of which stood 7 stories high. They were loved and hated in equal measure.
