An amusing scene from "Pools Paradise," presented last week by St Anne's Dramatic Society.
From a review by Norman Powell:
St Anne's (Fence) Dramatic Society made a return to the village drama scene after a 12-month break, and chose Philip King's "Pools Paradise" for their return, a play abounding in good line and funny situations.
The story is set in the village vicarage, where the vicar's wife, along with the maid and the maid's boyfriend, dabble in the pools. When they learn they might have won a very large sum, they have some difficulty in telling the vicar, well known for his views on gambling. A number of incredible situations are hung on this flimsy story line, and the play becomes an ecclesiastical romp in the zaniest vicarage in the diocese. The cast included Ann Rawlinson, Ernest Bishop, Margaret Hoyle, Chris Rawlinson, Alan Crabtree, Bryan Morris, Nicky Rawlinson and the producer was Elsie Peel.
