Des Sparks Re-engaged

Sparks signs his new contract, watched by Gordon Jones (Lowerhouse treasurer), Mr. J. Heyes (vice-chairman), Mr. W. Fielding (league representative) and Mr. V. Astin (committee).
Lowerhouse have re-engaged popular South African, Des Sparks, for a third year as their professional. A new contract was signed this week by Sparks, who came to the club four years ago an an amateur. After a year as professional in the Northern League, he made the unusual move of returning to Lowerhouse, this time as the club's professional. Last year he took 78 wickets at an average of 12.82.
About his retention as professional he said: "I am very pleased to be back at Lowerhouse for another season, and I very much hope it will be a better one for the club."
