After three consecutive defeats it was entirely expected that Burnley would return to the victory path by accounting for Southampton at Turf Moor. Though they were not quite back to their best until the last half-hour it was still a highly efficient, competent enough success and should do much towards renewing confidence.

Gordon Harris and Andy Lochead, with 2 each scored the goals which sank the stubborn Saints and all four came from lofted crosses which the Clarets have used so effectively this season.
