Villagers of Worsthorne helped revive a host of memories this week for a district nurse who intended serving their area for only a short time but stayed 28 years. It was when all sections of the community met in the village reading rooms to pay tribute to Sister Finnan who resigned as district nurse and midwife at the end of February.
The old recalled the comfort she had brought during long hours of sickness whilst mothers praised her work as a midwife. A particularly happy memory was recalled in the presenting of a tangible token of gratitude which took the form of a cheque for
