Steve Pickup was the winner of the Marsden Trophy presented for the first time at the Burnley Squash Club annual dinner. As a member of the club’s second and third teams he won more matches than any Burnley player in the Cole Shield Squash League to qualify for the award, which was handed over by Mr Edward Shapland of the Marsden Building Society. Other award winners were Yardley Trophy (for the club championship) David Wakefield, Mitchell trophy Ted Stanworth, Lucas Trophy John Greenwood, Grey and Co. Trophy Peter Farrell, Redman Trophy Sue Redman, Men’s Plate Peter Farrell. More than 200 members and guests attended a highly successful presentation night at the Fence Gate Restaurant.
