Festival Is Hectic But Entertaining

18-year-old Susan Elliott of Brierfield. Susan, who attends the Hilda Halliwell School of Dancing, won the Beatrice M. V. Nuttall Trophy for the highest marks in all classes. She danced her way to win two firsts, two seconds and a third.

Burnley Ballet Festival ended this weekend after a hectic but highly entertaining two days for judges and competitors alike. Over 280 local dancers were placed, including 10-year-old Andrea Bamber from Brierfield, who won the Pearl Redman (junior local aggregate) Trophy.

All the judges were highly satisfied with the standard achieved by the youngsters, and organisers were pleased to see that the festival's popularity continues to increase.
