Sporting Teams Take Their Bow

Harry Potts with the captains of trophy winning teams and league officials. Burnley Combination teams St Theodore’s Old Boys and Worsthorne B didn’t win many games between them last season, but they come out tops in one respect -- sportsmanship.
For at the combination’s award night at the Irish Democratic League Club on Thursday St Theodore's were presented with the Alex Standing Trophy as the most sporting team in the top two divisions and Worsthorne received the George Richardson Trophy for the most sporting team in the two lower divisions.
Medals and trophies were presented by Harry Potts, former manager of Burnley and Blackpool.
St Theodore’s won only one game out of 22 and finished bottom of Division Two, while Worsthorne B finished second bottom in the Fourth Division, winning three times in 18 games.
The Frank Brogan Memorial Trophy, which is awarded for a different reason each season, went to Third Division Lucas Engineering School, the team with the best disciplinary record in the league.
St Mary’s, who had an outstanding first season in the combination, collected the Fourth Division championship trophy, the Tom Clegg Shield and the Division Three/Four supplementary cup.
