Neil Ashton, Pendle Squash Club

Young Neil Ashton made local squash history at the weekend when he became their first player to ever win the Intack Hire Summer Squash League's junior and senior knock-out titles.
Neil, 13, plays at Pendle SC and on Saturday completed a remarkable double to add both titles to the league title he helped the Pendle Junior team to win during the summer. The finals were played at Cloggers SC and Neil became the third consecutive Pendle SC player to take the senior title.
At the moment he plays with the Pendle fifth team in the North West Counties League and has won three of his four matches to date and therefore will not be eligible to play in the Summer League next year.
He started learning with coach Frank Lucas shortly before his tenth birthday and has played for Lancashire at both Under-12 and Under-14 level.
Neil of Standroyd Drive, Colne, enjoys a game of football when he is not playing squash and is a member of the Barrowford Celtic Club. He comes from a squash-playing family. His mother, Mrs Anne Ashton, plays for Pendle ladies first team, and his brother, Carl, plays for the fourth team.
Our picture shows the Fisher-More pupil with the trophies he has won in his history-making season.
